<description>Beautiful books as works of art is the theme of a year-long exhibit at the Jean and Alexander Heard libraries. Drawn from the library's more than 3.5 million volumes, The Book as Art offers a dazzling display of fine books from nine centuries of bookmaking. In addition to the display The Book as Art: Beautiful Books in Special Collections, there are three satellite presentations: The Book as Art: Sacred Texts -- Divinity Library, The Book as Art: Children's Literature -- Peabody Library, and The Book as Art: Musical Notation -- The Martha Rivers Ingram Center for the Performing Arts. Please check http://hours.library.vanderbilt.edu [http://hours.library.vanderbilt.edu] to find out the operating hours for each library.

Beginner paced yoga class with a focus on building strength, flexibility, stamina, and balance. Students will learn healthy and healing body alignment in and through yoga poses--breaking poses down so that new or refreshing students can understand how classical yoga postures work and how to implement them in a home practice. Students learn breath awareness and the therapeutic benefits of synching movement with breath. Appropriate for individuals interested in a traditional yoga class, including first time students. Instructors are able to show modifications for each pose and for general health concerns.

<description>Zumbais a cardio interval workout with aerobic and dance movements to Latin music; get your groove on!

On third floor go to the front desk and she will let you in to the area. Make sure that you get there before 5pm because there will be no one there to let you in and you will have to wait until some with a card can swap you in. When you enter into the hallway make a right into the next hallway and walk all the way done and make another right and a quick left. Enter the doors straight ahead of you and make a right into the break room.

Vanderbilt University's Department of Art is pleased to announce the opening of two new exhibits in the Space 204 gallery. &#x22;No Going Back&#x22; by Barbara Yontz and &#x22;Aesthetic Predicament&#x22; by Quintin Owens will open Friday, May 18, and continue through Friday, June 29, 2012.
An opening reception will be held Friday, May 18, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.

New York and Nashville-based artist Barbara Yontz fascinates us with her use of sound, video and natural materials such as wool and hair. The centerpiece of this new sculptural exhibit is her 2009 work, The Star Womb Project: Monad to Nomad, an 8 foot dome-shaped structure made of wool, silk and hog gut representing not only a womb or cave but creating a nurturing listening space. It was inspired by research on the first star by astrophysicist Daniel Wolf Savin.

Currently an associate professor of art at St. Thomas Aquinas College in New York, Yontz has exhibited her work extensively, including the Phoenix Gallery, Chelsea, NY; The Frist Center for Visual Arts, Nashville, TN.; the Jose Marti National Library, Havana, Cuba; The Boston Museum School in Boston, MA; and the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences, NJ.

Quintin Owens' installation work is a gathering of past memories and experiences in which he utilizes a wide range of materials - from taxidermy and clay to balloons and construction materials - working to recall a sense of moment that can never be relived.

Describing himself as &#x22;a mid-western kid, who after shoveling manure, stocking shelves, bailing straw, washing dishes, weeding mint and beans, feeding the hungry, and serving the drunk, decided that art making was the glue that stuck everything together.&#x22;
Currently studio assistant in the Department of Art. Owens has shown his work at Nexus 2012, University of Tennessee&#x26;iacute;s Downtown Gallery, Knoxville, TN; Marsh Gallery, Indianapolis, IN; the Zoller Gallery, University Park, PA; and the Coleman Burke Gallery New York, NY. He received his MFA from The Pennsylvania State University and BFA from the Herron School of Art and Design.

Space 204 is located at 25th Avenue South and Garland in the E. Bronson Ingram Studio Art Center on the Vanderbilt campus. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 pm. All exhibits are free and open to the public.

For more information, contact the Department of Art at 343-7241 or visit the website www.vanderbilt.edu/arts [http://www.vanderbilt.edu/arts].

<description>Center for Technology Transfer and Commercialization presents a discussion whether diagnostic method claims in patients constitute patent-eligible subject matter.
In Prometheus Labs, Inc. V. Mayo Collaborative Services [http://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/11pdf/10-1150.pdf], the Court addressed whether the diagnostic method claims in patents assigned to Prometheus constituted patent-eligible subject matter under 35 U.S.C. &#x26;szlig; 101.
Those claims were directed to a method for determining suitable dosing ranges of drugs used to treat autoimmune diseases. Reversing a decision by the Federal Circuit, the Court found the diagnostic testing method claims were invalid because they represented conventional applications of laws of nature.

			<description>Tour de Nash 2012
Click here to register for the Tour de Nash! [http://events.r20.constantcontact.com/register/event?oeidk=a07e5pfrvllfb72df05&#x26;llr=8hpr4jjab]
Sign-in begins at 7:00 a.m., ride at 8:00 a.m.

Join Walk/Bike Nashville on Saturday, May 19 for the city's largest tour of Greenways and Bikeways! The Tour de Nash supports Walk/Bike Nashville's mission of creating a more walkable, bikeable, and livable Nashville by raising awareness of active transportation facilities throughout the city. Proceeds from the Tour de Nash support Walk/Bike Nashville's educational programming and advocacy initiatives, including bike parking at local events, bike safety rodeos for children, and annual events like Walk to School Day and Bike To Work Day.

In its eighth year, the Tour de Nash will celebrate the Grand Opening of Nashville's most exciting new bike facility- the Music City Bikeway! This 26 mile route connects Percy Warner Park with Percy Priest Dam via Downtown on a collection of greenways and safe on-street facilities for bikes. In addition to highlighting the Music City Bikeway, other unique features of this year's Tour de Nash is that Vanderbilt is offering Camp Vandy for children where they learn bike safety tips while parents ride the Grand Tours. Regions Bank is offering a bike giveaway, which is one of the kinds of cruisers that Nashville uses for the bike share program.

The rides offered are the Family Ride -- a free eight-mile ride along bike lanes in portions of Metro Center, downtown, and the Richland Creek Greenway. The Grand Tours include a 28- and 62-mile route with a cross section of Nashville's best parks, greenways and bike lanes.

Vanderbilt University is a sponsor of this event.
