SUMMARY:M&IM Departmental Seminar Series\: Grant Jensen
DESCRIPTION:Grant Jensen\, Ph.D.\nAssistant Professor of Biology\nCalifornia Institute of Technology\n\n&quot\;New insights into bacterial and viral ultrastructure from electron cryotomography&quot\;\n\nElectron cryotomography (ECT) is an emerging technology that is opening new windows into the ultrastructure of protein complexes\, viruses\, and cells. New insights into the bacterial cytoskeleton\, peptidoglycan\, chemoreceptor array\, and motility machines will be presented. Structures of mature and immature HIV-1 will also be described which clarify the two structural triggers that drive maturation. Recent technological advances and future prospects may also be discussed.\n\nHost\: Microbiology and Immunology Graduate Students Association\n\nSponsored by\: Cellular and Molecular Microbiology Training Program\n
