Workshop: Exploring Low Fire Glazing - Majolica
9/22/2013, All Day
Open to the Public
Location: Sarratt Student Center (Google map of this location)
Instructor: Kelly Kessler
Tuition: $85. Includes supplies
Last May, I was in Spain and these lovely tiles are everywhere; on buildings, along the sidewalks,
and of course on the table for dinnerware and serving pieces. Now you can explore this glazing technique
from Spain and paint images and designs on to clay. I'm sure you could recreate a traditional pattern or be
more contemporary with desings from your personal inspiration sources.
The beauty of this workshop: you don't even have to have any clay experience. We will provide pre-made tiles so that you can focus on creating a beautiful decorative surface. After an afternoon of technique and design, I'll fire your tiles in the kiln and you'll be able to pick them up the following weekend. Shipping arrangements can be made as needed.
