The Atlantic Ensemble presents an evening dedicated to works by acclaimed contemporary composer Lawrence Dillon, who is a composition faculty member at the North Carolina School for the Arts. In 1985, Dillon became the youngest composer to graduate with a doctoral degree from Juilliard, despite having lost half his hearing to a childhood illness. For this Nightcap program, Dillon will speak about his compositional techniques, inspirations, and collaborations with musicians. The concert program will include the Nashville premiere of "Saturn Dreams Mercury", written for the Atlantic Ensemble by Dillon in 2012. Other works on the program include "What Happened", for piano quartet, and "The Voice", for violin and piano.
