VMC's Office of Cultural Enrichment hosts "Transforming Lives Through Art" an exhibition produced by the Middle Tennessee Mental Health and Substance Abuse Coalition. The exhibition is comprised of a collection of work created by persons with mental illness and substance abuse disorders. Art classes are specifically designed and offered at no cost to the participants in order to express their creativity through art, to increase self-esteem and self-confidence, and to combat stigma so they are seen as individuals, not their disability.
