Join us for the new walking initiative “Nashville on the Move”, brought to you by partners in middle Tennessee encouraging employees in Music City to move a little more during their work day, as we work together to make this a healthier place to call home!

Put your walking shoes on and walk with other Nashville employees from companies across the downtown Nashville area on the first Friday of every month, at the same time, starting Friday, June 5, 2009. We’re walking together over lunch breaks from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Come out and walk during any portion of the joint event. Form an office walking group to join you and walk together, or just plan to meet new walking buddies on the route from other companies. This is for all fitness levels- start where you are by doing something more today than you were doing yesterday. Walk just one block, walk five blocks, or walk the entire course we’re mapping out for you, but everyone can do something!

If you or your workplace would like to get involved, or your business would like to sponsor a water station during the monthly walks, contact Get Fit Tennessee at: info@getfittn.com or call (615) 741-3886. Let’s get moving Nashville!

GetFitTN is a statewide awareness program developed by Governor Phil Bredesen to address the rising epidemic of Type 2 diabetes and risk factors that lead to diabetes, like obesity. This initiative is aimed at educating both adults and children that Type 2 diabetes can be delayed or even prevented with modest lifestyle changes like increasing physical activity and a healthier diet.
