Congressman Jim Cooper’s scheduled lecture Nov. 20 at the Vanderbilt University School of Nursing has been postponed until further notice.
Jim Cooper has been an attorney and investment banker and is currently serving his third term as U.S. Congressman for the 5th District of Tennessee. Cooper, who represented Tennessee's 4th Congressional District from 1983-95, teaches health policy at the Owen Graduate School of Management. A leading voice in Washington on fiscal policy, health policy and government accountability, he serves on the Armed Services Committee, the Budget Committee and the Oversight and Government Reform Committee. He is chairman of the Armed Services Committee Roles and Missions Panel. Cooper, a Morehead Scholar, earned a B.A. from the University of North Carolina, a B.A./M.A. as a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University and a J.D. from Harvard Law School. He lives in Nashville with his wife Martha; they have three children.
