This film grants a personal view of battered women who killed their abuser, the legal system, prison, and life after abuse. An Academy Award winner for Best Short Documentary, "Defending Our Lives" explores the terror of domestic violence and the stories of women forced to defend their lives.

A panel discussion with Vanderbilt and Nashville experts will follow the screening.
