Nashville Public Library is only the second institution in the nation to host a "StoryBooth," an outpost of StoryCorps, the award-winning national project that encourages Americans to listen to each other by sharing the stories of their lives in sound, broadcast on National Public Radio.

The Nashville StoryBooth is located in the Nashville Room on the second floor of the downtown Main Library, 615 Church St. Everyone is invited to bring a friend or relative and come tell their story in hour-long interview segments recorded with the help of a facilitator in a soundproof booth. Participants receive a CD of their conversation, which is archived by the Library of Congress and may be broadcast on Nashville Public Radio/WPLN 90.3 FM or National Public Radio. Reservations through September 2008 are available by calling 800-850-4406 or visiting storycorps.net. The library can assist those without computers in making reservations; visit any branch library or call 862-5800.
