Vanderbilt University Divinity School announces the 34th annual Antoinette Brown Lecture to be delivered by Amina Wadud, Ph.D., Visiting Scholar, Starr King School for the Ministry, Professor Emerita of Islamic Studies, Virginia Commonwealth University, School of World Studies

As the thirty-fourth Antoinette Brown lecturer, Professor Wadud will lecture on Islam, Gender, and Change. She will bear witness to theological, theoretical, pragmatic, political, communal and spiritual transformation on Muslim women's ways of knowing and being in Islam as it leads them to organize for self transformation and policy reforms globally.

The annual lecture at Vanderbilt University Divinity School was established in 1974 with a gift from benefactor Sylvia Sanders Kelley, BA'54, of Atlanta, Georgia. In 1996, a group of alumni/ae and friends established a permanent endowment for inviting distinguished female theologians and church leaders to the Divinity School where they could address the concerns confronting women in ministry.
