Icons and organization are merely tools within a visual vocabulary. For Carrol McTyre these icons becom the nouns, verbs, and adjectives of a visual language that speak to the human condinition minus the figure.
Herb Rieth applies a vocabulary for mapping landscapes drawn from comic imagists and their antecessors, the surrealists, as well as battleground maps and camouflage creating new meanings.
